Weighted things like weighted blankets, weighted lap pads and weighted vests can be very calming for some children with autism. The weight provides calming proprioceptive input and many occupational therapists recommend appropriate weight for individuals with autism and sensory issues who can be overstimulated or anxious. Weight can also help some kids with autism or ADHD focus and pay attention in the classroom or during mealtime.
